Coronation Street aired the scene of Izzy’s return after a long absence from the soap.

Cast member Cherylee Houston has not appeared in person on Cobbles since 2020 due to the pandemic, but her character Izzy has been mentioned frequently.

It was explained on-screen that Izzy was isolating herself at home, but now she’s ventured out into Weatherfield to interact with her neighbors once more.

On Wednesday’s episode (January 11), Izzy was briefly seen talking to Gary Windass at the bar about getting her son Jake to stay with her for a few days.

Izzy noticed that Gary seemed “distracted” during his anecdote about Jake’s little antics, so he confided in his old flame that he’s worried about the “aggro” Maria is facing at the council.

“There are horrible people out there,” admitted Gary.

Gary found that Maria wasn’t exactly receptive when he encouraged her to “back off” after the danger she faced from the extremist group.

Coronation Street confirmed for digital spy last week Cherylee started filming again before Christmas and has now returned full time. She last appeared in 2021 via a screen zoom call.

Longtime cast member Cherylee has a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, which has necessitated long-term isolation at home during the COVID pandemic.

While the actress has been away from the cobblestones, Cherylee has collected an MBE at Buckingham Palace for her services to drama and people with disabilities.
