Idris Elba has shared the official release date and given a first look at his highly anticipated Netflix movie, Luther: The Fallen Sun.
The 50-year-old actor, who is set to play the lead role, can be seen stepping out of a dark shadow in the film’s first dramatic trailer.
In an ominous voice he is heard saying, ‘Something is coming. Do you see me now?
It will hit select theaters on February 24th, followed by a Netflix release on March 10th.

The streaming service took to Twitter on Wednesday to confirm that the long-awaited new image will be titled Luther: The Fallen Sun.
It also revealed that the film, which will follow the dramatic 2019 series finale, will be released in March next year.
Netflix has also shared new footage of Idris, once again as DCI John Luther, who was last seen being sent to prison in the BBC’s dramatic series finale.
In the new stills, Idris is seen once again sporting his tweed jacket ensemble as he is seen exploring a series of mysterious locations.
Highly Expected: Coming to select theaters on February 24th, followed by a Netflix release on March 10th.
He cut a smooth figure in dark suit pants, a blue shirt and a red tie, which he styled with his famous suit jacket as he once again embodied Luther.
And Luther’s movie is slated to be as dramatic as ever, as one still shows a worried Idris holding his hands up against a bustling city backdrop.
His character Luther is also seen exploring more challenging climates and breaking away from his traditional London setting as he is seen making his way through a mountainous, snowy landscape.
Another scene shows Idris standing on what appears to be underground train tracks, while a final snapshot shows him dramatically walking through red lights.
This comes after Idris gave fans a taste of what to expect from the new film, revealing that it will follow his ‘haunted’ character being sent to prison in late 2019.

He told Entertainment Weekly: ‘He did so much bending the law to catch the bad guys that he ended up in prison.
’ So that’s where we start the story. He’s thinking about what he’s going to do with his life.
Meanwhile, Idris also spoke to Empire Magazine about the “dangers” of moving the psychological thriller from television to film.
He said: ‘It’s really dangerous, when expanding from television to film, to spend a lot of money on it and, at that point, change the characteristics of the show.

‘I wanted to make sure that even though we had a bigger budget, we didn’t skew the parameters of Luther’s land too much.’
Idris didn’t reveal where the film will be set, but he did confirm that the new film will “pop” in London.
‘We got out of the grimy streets of London, we got out of it a little bit,’ he shared.
He also serves as a producer on the film, which was directed by Jamie Payne and written by Neil Cross, and will also star the likes of Andy Serkis and Cynthia Erivo.

The TV series Luther began its first series in 2010 before ending with its fifth season nine years later.
The fifth and final season of Luther aired over four consecutive nights in 2019.
Idris revealed that he wrapped filming on the film earlier this year, telling LADbible: ‘The Luther movie, guess what, we’ve finished it and we’ve got some finishing work to do on the film, but it’s almost there.’
“We are very proud of it,” he added.
