Explaining during the Vogue chat that the split was “all very new,” Florence said that she and Zach, who lived together in LA, tried to keep their romance private.

“We weren’t in anyone’s face. But people didn’t like it. They pictured me with someone younger and someone in blockbusters.’

“I think young relationships in Hollywood are easily distorted because gossip sites increase. It’s exciting to watch. And I think I was in a relationship that didn’t do any of those things.

The two have remained close friends and collaborators, with Florence starring in Zach’s upcoming project, A Good Person, due out in March.

Director Zach is asked in the interview about his notes on his ex as an actress, with his adoration for her clear.

‘I just think she’s one of the greatest actresses of her generation,’ he enthuses. She is simply magnetic. You can’t take your eyes off her.

‘And it’s not just her beauty and it’s not just her acting ability, it’s that thing, that magical thing that transcends the screen, where everybody goes: I want to see whatever that person does.’

A Good Person sees Florence star as Allison, who is about to get married when a terrible accident kills two members of her fiance’s family.

The film follows her descent into opioid addiction and an unlikely relationship with her future father-in-law, played by Morgan Freeman.

Her character’s unconventional way of dealing with death and life is something Florence says she can relate to, telling Vogue about her desire not to conform.

One example she gives is the freedom she and her siblings enjoyed in childhood, growing up in Spain and the Oxfordshire countryside, continuing into adulthood and her approach to fashion.

“I’ve never been afraid of what’s under the fabric. If I’m happy with it, then I’ll wear it,’ she explains of her bold red carpet choices, including the much-talked-about hot pink tulle Valentino gown she wore during Milan Fashion Week.

‘Of course, I don’t want to offend people, but I guess my point is: how can my nipples offend you so much?’ she says.

‘It’s very important that we do this. I know some people might make fun of me for saying this, but if a dress with my breasts showing encourages people to say, ‘Well, if you were raped, you’d deserve it’, it just shows me that there’s a lot more work to do. .’
