Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Catherine Ommanney has branded Meghan Markle a ‘manipulative and controlling’ and said she ‘would have loved for him to marry someone like Kate Middleton’.
Appearing on GB News last night, the Real Housewives of DC star, 51, told presenter Dan Wootton that the Duke of Sussex is “not the person” she knew.
The mother of three – who grew up in London – claims she had a month-long affair with the royals in 2006, when she was 34 and he was 21.
While she has yet to read Prince Harry’s memoir, which hit shelves on Tuesday, the reality star says she was “shocked” to hear about some of his most controversial revelations – including the duke detailing how he lost his virginity with an unknown older woman in a field behind a pub.
Catherine Ommanney (pictured on Good Morning Britain on Monday) said Prince Harry had ‘dug a big hole’ by criticizing ‘manipulative’ Meghan Markle
‘I have absolutely no idea why [he’s done this],’ she said. “But I’m shocked.
When asked about Harry’s marriage, Catherine admitted: ‘I would have loved him to have ended up with someone like Kate, who is well suited for the role.
‘But he actually, in my opinion, chose someone who is almost the opposite and I really feel really sad because he dug himself such a big hole.’
Plus, the reality star says she was “pleased” that the Queen didn’t get to read Prince Harry’s bombastic book.
Prince Harry (pictured during his 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper on Sunday) insisted he’s ‘never been happier’ since moving to Montecito, Calif.

Elsewhere in the interview, Catherine says she took issue with her former lover for revealing how many Taliban members he killed while serving in Afghanistan.
She added angrily, ‘What is he doing?’
In response to Dan speculating that he was ‘ill advised’ by a PR team, Catherine added: ‘I mean, look who he’s with. [Meghan is] manipulating and controlling and he’s not the guy I knew.
‘I know it was a long time ago, but I definitely don’t think he’s the person I knew.’
In his recent TV interview with Tom Bradby, Prince Harry said he’s “never been happier” since leaving the royal family and moving to Montecito, California. However, the Duke’s former mistress questioned whether this was indeed the case.
She continued: ‘He’s saying he’s happy but he doesn’t really look happy to me. […] He looks the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.

After their romance ended in 2006, Catherine says she was always on friendly terms with the prince and recounted how he “brought through security” to greet her at an event they would both attend years later.
She continued: ‘I still have a lot of respect for him and vice versa. But I am very sad for him and I am sad for the monarchy and the royal family.’
In November 2022, Catherine said in an interview with The Sun that she met Prince Harry, now 38, in a bar in Chelsea, while he was still in a long-term relationship with socialite Chelsy Davy.
She says that after meeting in a bar, the two went together to the Eclipse nightclub in South Kensington, before heading to the house of one of his friends.

There, she says, they “shared a cigarette on the steps outside and [Harry] really open to [her]’.
After going back inside, she claims that Harry made everyone bacon sandwiches, played with his friends, and gave her a kiss before heading home.
Catherine claims they met a few more times before the romance fizzled out and it wasn’t until 2009, a year after she married her second husband (from whom she is now estranged) that the two met again at a polo match.
She described him at the time as a ‘very brave, charismatic, incredibly funny, smart and lovable human being’.
